Wine is like a journey. With a simple rule of 5S, you can also fall in love with a wine like me.

1. See the colour. The colour of the red wine is very important. The darker the colour, the older the wine is the choicest one. Also, the darker the colour, intense the taste. This is the basic thumb rule. Even if you know nothing about wine, you can act like a pro.
2. Swirl the wine on the glass a couple of times. Wine needs air, this initial swirl gives the drinker a sense of its taste. If the wine is heavy, might leave a deep impression on the glass. It can be sweet also. When it can leave thick and viscous streaks-the experts call it legs.
3. Sniff the wine. This is a very important step. Wine is never made from just grapes. Every winemaker has their signature taste and aroma which gets added with various spices, herbs, fruits, vegetables, etc. So, when you sniff, try to identify that special signature mix. Trust me, it is fun!
4. Sip. Now, the time has come to experience this journey. Take a relatively larger sip and hold the wine in your mouth for at least 3-5 seconds and let the wine coat your inside mouth palate in the meantime, you try to identify which taste is dominating, whether its fruitiness, saltiness, sweetness, acidic, bitterness, aroma or the alcohol itself.
